Now a days, humans seem have a high demand of enormous amounts of crops and livestock in a short period of time. How are they able to do this you ask? Well, the natural way would be letting the animals grow at their own pace. But since the food industry needs to produce large quantities of meat, they find other ways to speed up the process. The way to do this is by injecting hormones into our meat, usually beef and poultry, and changing their diet.

This clip taken from, "Food Inc", shows how chickens are being re-designed to grow bigger and faster. Birds are now raised and slaughtered in half the time they were 50 years ago and still twice as big. They also re designed the chicken to have bigger breasts, because that's what people like to eat most.

In this video it shows a concentration feeding grounds for cattle. I mean, does this look at all natural to you? It looks pretty disgusting to me and knowing this is what we basically consume when we eat beef is even worse. Also, the way they treat animals makes me sick! Clearly there's no respect for them and the living conditions they're in are horrible. Humans seem pretty selfish and greedy, we change the natural ways of living of the animals and poison them just to satisfy our consuming needs. It's crazy to see how far people go to make more money and how humans can keep on eating and eating and eating, we just don't know how to stop!

Hey Vanessa,
ReplyDeleteI like the videos that you posted. It help me have a visual aspect of how the industrial agriculture. I agree with you, this is disgusting. People are putting chemicals in all these animals, that we are consuming. It is sad seeing these animals living in the condition they live in. You are right, humans can be really greedy and self-fish. There should be a way to stop this.
I highly agree on what you are saying here! I myself find this so sickening how there are people injecting hormones in our animals just so they can grow faster and make more money. Humans sometimes don't think and understand how their actions affect the animals in our world. I believe animals have lives too and should be treated properly! We really need to change our exploits with animals because in the future you never know what can happen!
ReplyDeleteThis post is exactly what i'm trying to say. The fact that people are doubling the size of chickens in half the amount of time is ridiculous. There are people like these farmers who grow these animals with a different method, and thats just wrong. I wouldnt wish anything good upon these people, but I already know that because of their doing with the chemicals and processing of the meat, one day, karma will sneak up and bite them in the rear. Because of these people, there are many people with health issues due to the processed animals. But other than that, this was a very interesting post!
